The Al'Fez TV Advert

This autumn we launched our first step in television advertising. Aiming to educate consumers on the delights of Moroccan and Middle Eastern foods. We show how easily authentic dishes can be created with the help of Al'Fez. Filming began in July and the ad ran throughout October and November on UK and National digital channels. Did you catch it?

This winter we are launching a competition to win an authentic Tagine filled with Al'Fez goodies, worth £50. All you need to do is send us your favourite Moroccan themed recipe that uses one or more of our tasty products.

Learn to speak Arabic!

Nothing bridges cultural gaps better than being able to speak each other's language. So why not impress those around you with your mastering of the Arabic language?

To start you off, here is the basic greeting which will instantly win you friends throughout the Arab speaking world:

"Hello" "Sa-Lam Ah Lay Koom"

This literally means "Peace Be On You". And the usual reply to this greeting is a reversed greeting:-

"Ah Lay Koom Sa-Lam"

Practice this with a friend until you know it off by heart.
Well done… you're a natural!

Winter Vegetable, Turkey & Harissa Stew

Ingredients:
3 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, crushed
400g can chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp Al'Fez Harissa paste
1 cinnamon stick
900ml stock
450g peeled and diced butternut squash
150g baby corn
400g leftover cooked turkey, cut into bite size pieces
150g sugarsnap peas
225g cherry tomatoes
2 tbsp cornflour
handful chopped mint
handful chopped coriander
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:
Heat the oil in a large pan and cook the onion for 3-4 minutes. Add the garlic, canned tomatoes, Al'Fez Harissa, cinnamon and stock. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the butternut squash and baby corn and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the cooked turkey, sugarsnap peas and cherry tomatoes and cook uncovered for 5 minutes or until the tomatoes soften and the turkey heats right through. Mix the cornflour with 2 tbsp of water. Stir this paste into the stew and simmer until thickened. Stir in the mint and coriander and season to taste. Serve with crusty bread to mop up the juices.
